Welcome to my website, Anne Etherton Acupuncture.
My house and practice is situated in Sutton Bonington, a small village a few miles off the A6, between Loughborough and Kegworth. I am married and have a daughter.
I grew up in Gloucestershire and went to university in Bristol, where I read Microbiology. After completing my degree, I worked in public health and the food industry for 13 years before deciding to study acupuncture.
I first came across acupuncture in 1986 when talking to the mother of a friend of mine who was an acupuncturist. I found the subject fascinating because it treated the person as a whole and it was a method of improving health without using drugs.
I studied for four years at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, and qualified in 1999 with a Diploma of Acupuncture and a Master of Science from the University of Wales. My MSc was about atopic asthma and how this is understood in Chinese medicine.
I am also a traditional Chinese herbal medicine practitioner. I have a Diploma of Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Northern College of Acupuncture and Middlesex University (2014).
I have done various continuous professional development postgraduate courses in Japanese acupuncture, Korean hand and auricular therapy, reproductive acupuncture, Dr Tan’s balance method and Chinese dietary therapy. I practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong regularly. I am qualified in Reiki Seichem to level 3. I practice in Sutton Bonington near Loughborough and also in Beeston, Nottingham.
